August 30, 2005 – Reelin’ In the Years Productions took home the award tonight for “Best Music Anthology DVD” for The American Folk Blues Festival 1962 – 1969 Volume Three at the 8th annual DVD Entertainment Awards held in Hollywood, CA. The award show, presented by the International Recording Media Association and hosted by famed film critic Leonard Maltin, honors superior achievements in DVD releases. Accepting the award for Reelin’ In The Years Productions was founder and president David Peck, who produced the DVD along with Experience Hendrix, the company that manages the estate of Jimi Hendrix. When asked to comment, Peck said “It’s truly an honor to receive this award, we put a lot of care and effort into all of our DVD releases and it’s always nice for our work to be recognized”.

This is not the first award for Reelin’ In The Years Productions and its three volume American Folk Blues Festival 1962 –1969 DVD series. In addition to receiving worldwide critical acclaim and five-star reviews, in 2004 Volume One received a GRAMMY nomination in the category of “Best Long Form Video”, and both Volumes One and Two received The Blues Foundations prestigious “Keeping The Blues Alive” (KBA) award for “Achievement In Film”. Earlier this year, Volume Three also received a Home Media Retailing award in the category of  “Best Compilation DVD”.

Other winners at the 8th annual DVD Entertainment Awards included The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King Extended Edition, The Simpsons: The Complete 5th Season boxset, The Star Wars Trilogy boxset, Ultimate Matrix Collection Gift Set, and Seinfeld – Seasons One and Two. Director William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection) received the Filmmaking Legend Award.

Reelin’ In The Years Productions’ newest release Muddy Waters Classic Concerts will be released this October through Universal Music Group International. The DVD will feature three Muddy Waters concerts filmed between 1960 and 1977 and will include over 90 minutes of music. In March of 2006, the San Diego-based company will release the first volumes of its Jazz Icons DVD series in partnership with TDK. These DVDs will feature complete concerts from the 1950s and 1960s by legendary jazz artists, including Louis Armstrong and Art Blakey.
