How Long Will It Take To Receive My Tape?
The
philosophy at RITY has always been to get the material into the client's hands
as soon as possible, and we've built a great reputation over the years based
on that commitment. Footage will arrive on a DVD-r with a burned-in time code
and our library # on the screen for your convenience. Depending on the size of the order we can
usually fill an order on the same day as requested.

What Are The Rates For Licensing Footage?
Rates vary depending on the rights required (TV, Home Video, Theatrical, etc)
and the territory (worldwide, UK , North America, etc.). Reelin' In The Years
rates are based on per minute/per song, but not per cut. For example, if you
picked one minute of a particular performance then you may cut that minute
into your production in any way you like.
There is a separate rate
structure for DVD companies utilizing whole programs or whole songs. Those
rates are based on the artist and the current or expected market rate of the
DVD. For example, an obscure band from the 60s is not going to sell as many
units as a band like Led Zeppelin, so we have more flexibility with our rates
for home video. Please feel free to call or email us and we can discuss our
rates for your particular project.

Where Was This Footage Filmed?
Most footage was filmed for TV by our various European, Australian & American
clients. The Reelin' In The Years library contains full-length concerts,
in-the-studio live and lip-sync performances, interviews and B-roll. Most of
the footage in our library has never been seen or heard by the world at large.
Our library is unique in the fact that most of the performances contained
within were only broadcast once or twice in the country of origin. In many
cases, these performances were never broadcast at all.

How Long Have You Been In Business And How Did You Get Started?
(The following is a personal anecdote from "Reelin in the Years" President,
David Peck)
I started Reelin' In The Years (based in San Diego, California) in the late
1980s as a research company assisting productions in locating footage. In
1997, I started thinking about expanding the company to include representation
of footage libraries. An unusual set of circumstances occurred which turned my
successful research company into the world's largest library of music footage.
I've known Paul Shaffer of The Late Show With David Letterman for almost 20
years, and in January 1998 I was in New York for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
ceremonies. Because of my relationship with Paul, I've gone to the green room
many times when the show is taping. On this particular day ( January 15, 1998
), I went for the sole purpose of getting an autograph from the Spice Girls
for my niece, while the group were in NY promoting the movie Spice World.
During the course of getting the autographs, Baby Spice (the blonde one)
somehow got my black magic marker pen on her hand, just minutes before she was
to go on stage and do the show (the look on the faces of the Spice Girls
towards me was something I will never forget). I was immediately kicked out
and sent to another green room downstairs.
On the way down, I ran into
Chuck Leavell (keyboardist for The Rolling Stones) who was going to be on the
second show (they tape Friday's show on Thursday). I mentioned to Chuck that I
had some Allman Brothers Band footage with him from 1972 that he had probably
never seen before, and I gladly offered it to him for free. Since that day he
and I have been friends. That summer ( July 5th, 1998 ) I was in Amsterdam to
see the Stones and I was backstage with both Chuck and Charlie Watts. They
introduced me to a friend of theirs from Belgium who had a large library of
material. It was through their friend that I became aware of the Belgian TV
station RTBF which subsequently became my first client.
So in closing,
were it not for pissing off a member of the Spice Girls, I would probably not
have the company I do today.
